Use-after-free vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 through 10 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted web site that triggers access to a deleted object, aka "Internet Explorer CPasteCommand Use After Free Vulnerability."
The weakness was published 02/13/2013 as MS13-009 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared for download at technet.microsoft.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-0027. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 64570 (MS13-009: Security Update for Internet Explorer (2792100)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows : Microsoft Bulletins. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 100136 (Microsoft Internet Explorer Remote Code Execution Vulnerability (MS13-009)).
Upgrading to version 11 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch MS13-009 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 12752.
