A certain Red Hat patch to the sctp_sock_migrate function in net/sctp/socket.c in the Linux kernel before 2.6.21, as used in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and OOPS) via a crafted SCTP packet.
The issue has been introduced in 12/03/2009. The weakness was shared 06/08/2013 by Darren Lavender (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2011-2482 since 06/15/2011. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
