A vulnerability was found in OTRS (Service Management Software) and classified as critical. This issue affects the function StateGetStatesByType. SQL injection vulnerability in the StateGetStatesByType function in Kernel/System/State.pm in Open Ticket Request System (OTRS) 3.1.x before 3.1.19, 3.2.x before 3.2.14, and 3.3.x before 3.3.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via vectors related to a ticket search URL.

The weakness was shared 02/04/2014 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at otrs.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-1471 since 01/15/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 72194 (FreeBSD : otrs -- multiple vulnerabilities (c7b5d72b-886a-11e3-9533-60a44c524f57)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family FreeBSD Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 122884 (Debian Security Update for otrs2 (DSA 2867-1)).

Upgrading to version 3.3.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
