Buffer overflow in Adobe Flash Player before 10.3.183.29 and 11.x before 11.4.402.287 on Windows and Mac OS X, before 10.3.183.29 and 11.x before 11.2.202.243 on Linux, before 11.1.111.19 on Android 2.x and 3.x, and before 11.1.115.20 on Android 4.x; Adobe AIR before 3.4.0.2710; and Adobe AIR SDK before 3.4.0.2710 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code via unspecified vectors, a different vulnerability than other Flash Player buffer overflow CVEs listed in APSB12-22.

The weakness was published 11/02/2012 by Mateusz Jurczyk, Gynvael Coldwind and Fermin Serna with Google Security Team as APSB12-22 as confirmed bulletin (Website). The advisory is shared for download at adobe.com. The public release has been coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-5287 since 10/04/2012. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 62479 (Adobe AIR 3.x <= 3.4.0.2540 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB12-22)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows.

Upgrading to version 11.4.402.287 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
