The GUI installer in JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) and Enterprise Web Platform (EWP) 5.2.0 and possibly 5.1.2 uses world-readable permissions for the auto-install XML file, which allows local users to obtain the administrator password and the sucker password by reading this file.
The weakness was disclosed 01/30/2013 by Arun Neelicattu with Red Hat Security Response Team as RHSA-2013-0206 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at rhn.redhat.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with Red Hat. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2013-0218 since 12/06/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
