A vulnerability classified as very critical was found in LibTIFF up to 4.0.6 (Image Processing Software). Affected by this vulnerability is the function PackBitsPreEncode
of the file tif_packbits.c of the component BMP Image Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. Heap-based buffer overflow in the PackBitsPreEncode function in tif_packbits.c in bmp2tiff in libtiff 4.0.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service via a large width field in a BMP image.
