Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the echo functionality on IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA appliances with firmware 3.8.2, 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2, and 5.0.0 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a SOAP message, as demonstrated by the XML Firewall, Multi Protocol Gateway (MPGW), Web Service Proxy, and Web Token services.
The weakness was shared 05/17/2013 by A. Falkenberg as 82221 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at xforce.iss.net. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2013-0499 since 12/16/2012. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
