Mozilla Firefox before 22.0 does not properly enforce the X-Frame-Options protection mechanism, which allows remote attackers to conduct clickjacking attacks via a crafted web site that uses the HTTP server push feature with multipart responses.

The weakness was shared 06/25/2013 by Frédéric Buclin (Paul) as MFSA 2013-58 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at mozilla.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-1696 since 02/13/2013. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 66999 (FreeBSD : mozilla -- multiple vulnerabilities (b3fcb387-de4b-11e2-b1c6-0025905a4771)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family FreeBSD Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 166423 (OpenSuSE Security Update for Regular Updates for Mozilla Applications (FF/TB) (openSUSE-SU-2013:1140-1)).

Upgrading to version 22.0 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
