An issue was discovered in phpMyAdmin. An unauthenticated user can execute a denial of service attack when phpMyAdmin is running with $cfg['AllowArbitraryServer']=true. All 4.6.x versions (prior to 4.6.5), 4.4.x versions (prior to 4.4.15.9), and 4.0.x versions (prior to 4.0.10.18) are affected.
The bug was discovered 12/06/2016. The weakness was presented 12/11/2016 by Emanuel Bronshtein (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-9860 since 12/06/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. The requirement for exploitation is a single authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
