A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in ImageMagick (Image Processing Software) (unknown version). The bug was discovered 09/29/2016. The weakness was disclosed 04/19/2017 by Moshe Kaplan (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-7529 since 09/09/2016. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 93115 (Debian DSA-3652-1 : imagemagick - security update), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Debian Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 169347 (OpenSuSE Security Update for GraphicsMagick (openSUSE-SU-2016:2644-1)).
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
