A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in libxml2 (Document Processing Software) (the affected version is unknown). This issue affects the function xmlFARegExecRollBack of the file xmlregexp.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. Impacted is availability.

The weakness was published 09/11/2013 by Gaurav Gupta with Samsung as Bug 707749 - NULL pointer dereferenced in xmlregexp.c as confirmed advisory (Website).
