The ReadOneLayer function in coders/xcf.c in ImageMagick 7.0.6-6 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) via a crafted file.

The bug was discovered 08/08/2017. The weakness was disclosed 09/01/2017 (GitHub Repository). It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-12691 since 08/08/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
