CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Linux Foundation Xen 4.2.0/4.2.1/4.2.2/4.2.3/4.3.0 (Virtualization Software). This affects the function libxl_list_cpupool of the file tools/libxl/libxl.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a resource management vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-399. This is going to have an impact on availability. The summary by CVE is:

Use-after-free vulnerability in the libxl_list_cpupool function in the libxl toolstack library in Xen 4.2.x and 4.3.x, when running "under memory pressure," returns the original pointer when the realloc function fails, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (heap corruption and crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via unspecified vectors.

The weakness was published 10/10/2013 by Matthew Daley and Coverty Scan with Coverity Scan as use-after-free in libxl_list_cpupool under memory pressure as not defined mailinglist post (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-4371 since 06/12/2013. An attack has to be approached locally. A authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 70549 (Fedora 19 : xen-4.2.3-4.fc19 (2013-19048)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Fedora Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 166560 (SUSE Enterprise Linux Security update for Xen (SUSE-SU-2013:1774-1)).

Applying the patch xsa70 is able to eliminate this problem. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (87797), Tenable (70549), SecurityFocus (BID 62932†), OSVDB (98287†) and Vulnerability Center (SBV-42122†). Similar entries are available at VDB-10666, VDB-10667, VDB-10668 and VDB-10674. Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
