An issue was discovered in Joomla! Core before 3.8.8. The web install application would autofill password fields after either a form validation error or navigating to a previous install step, and display the plaintext password for the administrator account at the confirmation screen.
The bug was discovered 05/04/2018. The weakness was released 05/22/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-11325 since 05/21/2018. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
