A vulnerability was found in Wireshark 2.6.0 (Packet Analyzer Software). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function Dot11DecryptTDLSDeriveKey of the file epan/crypt/dot11decrypt.c of the component IEEE 802.11 Protocol Dissector. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. In Wireshark 2.6.0, the IEEE 802.11 protocol dissector could crash. This was addressed in epan/crypt/dot11decrypt.c by avoiding a buffer overflow during FTE processing in Dot11DecryptTDLSDeriveKey.
The bug was discovered 05/22/2018. The weakness was presented 05/22/2018 as Bug 14686 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugs.wireshark.org.
