In Wireshark 2.6.0, 2.4.0 to 2.4.6, and 2.2.0 to 2.2.14, the GSM A DTAP dissector could crash. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-gsm_a_dtap.c by fixing an off-by-one error that caused a buffer overflow.
The bug was discovered 05/22/2018. The weakness was disclosed 05/22/2018 as Bug 14688 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugs.wireshark.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2018-11360 since 05/21/2018. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
