In Wireshark 2.6.0 to 2.6.1, 2.4.0 to 2.4.7, and 2.2.0 to 2.2.15, the Bazaar protocol dissector could go into an infinite loop. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-bzr.c by properly handling items that are too long.

The bug was discovered 07/18/2018. The weakness was disclosed 07/19/2018 as Bug 14841 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugs.wireshark.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-14368 since 07/17/2018. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
