In Wireshark 2.6.0 to 2.6.1, 2.4.0 to 2.4.7, and 2.2.0 to 2.2.15, the HTTP2 dissector could crash. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-http2.c by verifying that header data was found before proceeding to header decompression.

The bug was discovered 07/18/2018. The weakness was presented 07/19/2018 as Bug 14869 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared at bugs.wireshark.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2018-14369 since 07/17/2018. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
