A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Apple QuickTime up to 7.7.4 (Multimedia Player Software). This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component ttfo Element Handler. Apple QuickTime before 7.7.5 does not properly perform a byte-swapping operation, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds memory access and application crash) via a crafted ttfo element in a movie file.

The weakness was published 02/25/2014 by Meder Kydyraliev with Google Security Team as HT6151 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at support.apple.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-1250 since 01/08/2014. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
