A vulnerability was found in Google Chrome up to 33.0.1750.117 (Web Browser) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function resourceprovider::initializesoftware of the file cc/resources/resource_provider.cc of the component Software Renderer. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. Heap-based buffer overflow in the ResourceProvider::InitializeSoftware function in cc/resources/resource_provider.cc in Google Chrome before 33.0.1750.146 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact via a large texture size that triggers improper memory allocation in the software renderer.
The weakness was published 03/03/2014 by Khalil Zhani (Cloudfuzzer) with Google as Stable Channel Update, March 2014 as confirmed release notes (Blog). The advisory is available at googlechromereleases.blogspot.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-6665 since 11/05/2013. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
