Use-after-free vulnerability in the DatabaseThread::cleanupDatabaseThread function in modules/webdatabase/DatabaseThread.cpp in the web database implementation in Blink, as used in Google Chrome before 33.0.1750.149, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact by leveraging improper handling of scheduled tasks during shutdown of a thread.

The weakness was shared 03/11/2014 by Chamal De Silva with Google as Stable Channel Update, March 2014 as confirmed posting (Blogspot). The advisory is available at googlechromereleases.blogspot.dk. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-1702 since 01/29/2014. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 73164 (Debian DSA-2883-1 : chromium-browser - security update), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
