A vulnerability was found in Red Hat GlusterFS (version now known). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown processing of the component Incomplete Fix. It was found that the fix for CVE-2018-10927, CVE-2018-10928, CVE-2018-10929, CVE-2018-10930, and CVE-2018-10926 was incomplete. A remote, authenticated attacker could use one of these flaws to execute arbitrary code, create arbitrary files, or cause denial of service on glusterfs server nodes via symlinks to relative paths.
The bug was discovered 10/31/2018. The weakness was shared 10/30/2018 by Michael Hanselmann as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2018-14651 since 07/27/2018. The attack can be launched remotely. Required for exploitation is a single authentication.
