The bug was discovered 12/13/2018. The weakness was shared 12/17/2018 by Li Qiang (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at openwall.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-20123 since 12/13/2018. The exploitation is known to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally.
