A vulnerability has been found in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01/5.5 (Web Browser) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function MSScriptControl.ScriptControl of the component Frame Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Internet Explorer 5.5 and earlier does not properly verify the domain of a frame within a browser window, which allows remote web site operators to read certain files on the client by sending information from a local frame to a frame in a different domain using MSScriptControl.ScriptControl and GetObject, aka a variant of the "Frame Domain Verification" vulnerability.

The issue has been introduced in 11/08/1999. The weakness was shared 06/27/2001 as MS01-027 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is available at microsoft.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2001-0332. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
