A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01/5.5/6.0 (Web Browser). It has been rated as critical. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01, 5.5 and 6.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code under fewer security restrictions via a malformed web page that requires NetBIOS connectivity, aka "Zone Spoofing through Malformed Web Page" vulnerability.
The issue has been introduced in 11/08/1999. The weakness was disclosed 05/29/2002 with Microsoft as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2002-0190. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
