A vulnerability was found in GNU tar 1.14/1.14.1/1.15/1.15.1/1.15.90. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component PAX Header Handler. The bug was discovered 02/22/2006. The weakness was published 02/22/2006 by Jim Meyering with Entwickler-Team (Website). The advisory is shared for download at lists.gnu.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2006-0300 since 01/18/2006. The attack can only be initiated within the local network. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
