A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Microsoft Windows 2000/Server 2003/XP (Operating System). Affected by this issue is an unknown part of the component IP Source Routing Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Buffer overflow in the TCP/IP Protocol driver in Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP1 and SP2, and Server 2003 SP1 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via unknown vectors related to IP source routing.
The issue has been introduced in 02/17/2000. The weakness was released 06/13/2006 by Andrey Minaev as MS06-032 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is available at microsoft.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2006-2379 since 05/15/2006. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 2308 days.
