A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Firefox 1.5/1.5.0.1/1.5.0.2/1.5.0.3/1.5.0.4 (Web Browser). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function Object of the component Javascript. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a remote code execution vulnerability. Mozilla Firefox 1.5 before 1.5.0.5, Thunderbird before 1.5.0.5, and SeaMonkey before 1.0.3 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via simultaneous XPCOM events, which causes a timer object to be deleted in a way that triggers memory corruption.
The weakness was disclosed 07/25/2006 by Benjamin Smedberg (moz_bug_r_a4) with TippingPoint and the Zero Day Initiative as MFSA2006-51 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at mozilla.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2006-3113 since 06/21/2006. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
