Integer overflow in Apple Quicktime before 7.0.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a TIFF image file with modified (1) "strips" (StripByteCounts) or (2) "bands" (StripOffsets) values.
The weakness was disclosed 01/11/2006 by Varun Uppal as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2005-3711 since 11/16/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
