A vulnerability was found in Adobe Flash Player up to 9.0.115.0 (Multimedia Player Software). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function navigateToURL. The bug was discovered 12/18/2007. The weakness was released 12/27/2007 by Collin Jackson Adam Barth (TippingPoint) with Stanford University (Website). The advisory is available at adobe.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2007-6242 since 12/05/2007. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 1 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published 5 years after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
