A vulnerability was found in Adobe Flash Player up to 9.0.115.0 (Multimedia Player Software). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component HTTP Handler. Adobe Flash Player 9.x up to 9.0.48.0, 8.x up to 8.0.35.0, and 7.x up to 7.0.70.0 does not sufficiently restrict the interpretation and usage of cross-domain policy files, which makes it easier for remote attackers to conduct cross-domain and cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The weakness was disclosed 12/27/2007 by Toshiharu Sugiyama (JPCERT) with UBsecure (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at adobe.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-6243 since 12/05/2007. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $5k-$25k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 800028 , which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 115679 (Adobe Flash Player Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB07-20)).
