Mozilla Firefox before 2.0.0.12, Thunderbird before 2.0.0.12, and SeaMonkey before 1.1.8 allows remote attackers to execute script outside of the sandbox and conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks via multiple vectors including the XMLDocument.load function, aka "JavaScript privilege escalation bugs."

The weakness was released 02/08/2008 by moz_bug_r_a4 and Boris Zbarsky with Martijn Wargers as MFSA2008-05 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at mozilla.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2008-0415 since 01/23/2008. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 30220 (CentOS 4 / 5 : firefox (CESA-2008:0103)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
