A vulnerability was found in Apple TV 4.x (Digital Media Player). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Buffer overflow in the ft_var_readpackedpoints function in truetype/ttgxvar.c in FreeType 2.4.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted TrueType GX font.
The weakness was presented 03/10/2011 as HT4565 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at support.apple.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-3855 since 10/08/2010. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
