This affects the function nsXMLDocument::OnChannelRedirect of the component Same Origin Policy. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a access control vulnerability. The nsXMLDocument::OnChannelRedirect function in Mozilla Firefox before 2.0.0.17, Thunderbird before 2.0.0.17, and SeaMonkey before 1.1.12 allows remote attackers to bypass the Same Origin Policy and execute arbitrary JavaScript code via unknown vectors.
The bug was discovered 09/23/2008. The weakness was published 09/24/2008 by Georgi Guninski (moz_bug_r_a4) with Martijn Wargers (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at redhat.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2008-3835 since 08/27/2008. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
