feedWriter in Mozilla Firefox before 2.0.0.17 allows remote attackers to execute scripts with chrome privileges via vectors related to feed preview and the (1) elem.doCommand, (2) elem.dispatchEvent, (3) _setTitleText, (4) _setTitleImage, and (5) _initSubscriptionUI functions.
The bug was discovered 09/23/2008. The weakness was released 09/24/2008 by Georgi Guninski (moz_bug_r_a4) with Martijn Wargers as Bug 430658 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2008-3836 since 08/27/2008. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
