Use-after-free vulnerability in the browser engine in Mozilla Firefox before 3.6.28 and 4.x through 10.0, Firefox ESR 10.x before 10.0.3, Thunderbird before 3.1.20 and 5.0 through 10.0, Thunderbird ESR 10.x before 10.0.3, and SeaMonkey before 2.8 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via vectors involving an empty argument to the array.join function in conjunction with the triggering of garbage collection.

The weakness was shared 03/13/2012 by Vincenzo Iozzo (Nils) with TippingPoint's Zero Day Initiative as MFSA2012-19 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at mozilla.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-0464 since 01/09/2012. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
