Google Chrome before 17.0.963.83 allows remote attackers to bypass the Same Origin Policy via vectors involving a "magic iframe."
The weakness was released 05/09/2012 by Sergey Glazunov (PinkiePie) with VUPEN as HT5282 as confirmed knowledge base article (Website). The advisory is shared at support.apple.com. The public release was coordinated with Apple. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-3056 since 08/09/2011. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 58438 (FreeBSD : chromium -- multiple vulnerabilities (330106da-7406-11e1-a1d7-00262d5ed8ee)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family FreeBSD Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 120217 (Apple Safari Multiple Vulnerabilities (APPLE-SA-2012-05-09-2)).
Upgrading to version 5.1.7 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
