A vulnerability has been found in Wireshark (Packet Analyzer Software) and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function dissect_dcm_main. The dissect_dcm_main function in epan/dissectors/packet-dcm.c in the DICOM dissector in Wireshark 1.2.x before 1.2.17 and 1.4.x before 1.4.7 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop) via an invalid PDU length.
The weakness was published 06/06/2011 by Huzaifa Sidhpurwala as Bug 710021 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2011-1957. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
