Google Chrome before 21.0.1180.57 on Mac OS X and Linux, and before 21.0.1180.60 on Windows and Chrome Frame, allows remote attackers to obtain potentially sensitive information about pointer values by leveraging access to a WebUI renderer process.

The weakness was disclosed 07/31/2012 by Nasko Oskov (Trev) with Chromium Development Community as Stable Channel Release as not defined changelog entry (Website). The advisory is shared for download at googlechromereleases.blogspot.ch. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-2854 since 05/19/2012. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 61505 (FreeBSD : chromium -- multiple vulnerabilities (ce84e136-e2f6-11e1-a8ca-00262d5ed8ee)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
