Use-after-free vulnerability in the PDF functionality in Google Chrome before 21.0.1180.57 on Mac OS X and Linux, and before 21.0.1180.60 on Windows and Chrome Frame, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted document.
The weakness was presented 07/31/2012 by Gynvael Coldwind and Mateusz Jurczyk (Trev) with Google Security Team as Stable Channel Release as not defined changelog entry (Website). The advisory is shared at googlechromereleases.blogspot.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with Google. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-2855 since 05/19/2012. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
