Moodle 2.0.x before 2.0.3 does not recognize the configuration setting that makes e-mail addresses visible only to course members, which allows remote authenticated users to obtain sensitive address information by reading a full profile page.

The weakness was disclosed 07/16/2012 as MDL-26621 respect email privacy settings on the main user profile and fix missing... as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared at git.moodle.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2011-4289 since 11/04/2011. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The requirement for exploitation is a single authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
