A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Moodle up to 2.2.3 (Learning Management Software). This issue affects an unknown functionality in the library lib/filelib.php. lib/filelib.php in Moodle 2.1.x before 2.1.7 and 2.2.x before 2.2.4 does not properly restrict file access after a block has been hidden, which allows remote authenticated users to obtain sensitive information by reading a file that is embedded in a block.

The weakness was released 07/23/2012 by Daniel Compton (oss-sec). It is possible to read the advisory at openwall.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-3390 since 06/14/2012. The attack may be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
