A vulnerability was found in Irfan Skiljan IrfanView 4.33 (Image Processing Software). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality in the library IMXCF.dll. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Heap-based buffer overflow in tif_ojpeg.c in the OJPEG decoder in LibTIFF before 3.9.5 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted TIFF file.
The weakness was presented 12/12/2012 by beford as File 118767/Irf (Packetstorm). The advisory is available at packetstormsecurity.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-5022 since 12/09/2010. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.

Upgrading to version 4.35 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
