The SecurityAssociation.getCredential method in JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 5.2.0, Web Platform (EWP) 5.2.0, and BRMS Platform before 5.3.1 returns the credentials of the previous user when a security context is not provided, which allows remote attackers to gain privileges as other users.

The weakness was shared 01/24/2013 by Carlo de Wolf (vlet) with Red Hat as Bug#83456 as confirmed bug report (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-3370 since 06/14/2012. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
