A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Apple Mac OS X up to 10.10.4 (Operating System). Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the component libxml2. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a xml external entity reference vulnerability (User). Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-611. The product processes an XML document that can contain XML entities with URIs that resolve to documents outside of the intended sphere of control, causing the product to embed incorrect documents into its output. Impacted is confidentiality.
The weakness was disclosed 08/11/2015 with Netherlands Cyber Security Center as HT205031 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-3660 since 05/14/2014. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
