The developer-tools process in Google Chrome before 25.0.1364.97 on Windows and Linux, and before 25.0.1364.99 on Mac OS X, does not properly restrict privileges during interaction with a connected server, which has unspecified impact and attack vectors.

The weakness was presented 02/21/2013 by Alexander Potapenko (Inferno) with Chromium Development Community as 170836 as confirmed posting (Website). The advisory is available at code.google.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-0887 since 01/07/2013. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 05/05/2021).
