The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 121176 (Adobe Reader and Acrobat Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB13-15)).
Upgrading to version 11.0.03 eliminates this vulnerability. The problem might be mitigated by replacing the product with Foxit Reader as an alternative. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published 3 months after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 12856.
