A vulnerability was found in LibTIFF (Image Processing Software) (the affected version unknown). It has been declared as critical. tif_luv.c in libtiff allows attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds reads) via a crafted TIFF image.
The weakness was published 02/01/2016 by Salvatore Bonaccorso (oss-sec). It is possible to read the advisory at openwall.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-8783 since 01/23/2016. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
