Details
A vulnerability was found in Graphite up to 2-1.2.3. It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown function of the file Code.cpp of the component libgraphite. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Code.cpp in Libgraphite in Graphite 2 1.2.4, as used in Mozilla Firefox before 43.0 and Firefox ESR 38.x before 38.6.1, does not consider recursive load calls during a size check, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (heap-based buffer overflow) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted Graphite smart font.
The weakness was shared 02/13/2016 as MFSA2016-14 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is available at mozilla.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2016-1522.
