A vulnerability was found in Oracle Java up to 7 Update 17 (Programming Language Software). It has been classified as very critical. This affects an unknown part of the component ImageIO. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. NOTE: the previous information is from the April 2013 CPU. Oracle has not commented on claims from another vendor that this issue is related to "JPEGImageWriter state corruption" when using native code, which triggers memory corruption.
